PT100 vs. PT1000

PT100 in comparison to PT1000
Temperatures are measured by PT100/PT1000 sensors and need the according measurement amplifiers. Depending on the application one of these two high performance power packs are used.

Differences:

Please note the line resistance when connecting 2-wire technique to a PT100 sensor. It leads to a distor- tion of the measurement result. These faults can be avoided with using 3-wire – or even better – 4-wire technology.

In PT1000 measurements this fault is less significant, as the voltage is smaller, thanks to the higher resistance. Therefore the line resistance leads to a smaller fault. An additional positive effect of the smaller voltage is, that the sensor does not heat up as much.

Just decide on what is more suitable for you as bmcm certainly has got both measurement amplifiers for a choice in stock.
